Opening paragraph directness

AEOWeight 8.0% (This check's share of the AEO score)Score 60

What this is

We read the first paragraph of your main content (ignoring menus, footer and sidebars) and check whether it gets straight to the page's topic.

Why it matters

AI engines and Google's summaries often lift the opening of a page to answer a question. If the first paragraph names the topic, the page is more likely to be quoted; a slogan or pleasantry up top makes it harder for AI to tell what the page answers.

What counts as passing

Passes when the first 100 characters of the first paragraph include the first word of the main heading (H1; the whole heading for Chinese titles without spaces) or the last word of the URL; otherwise a partial pass. Fails if no paragraph is found.

Suggestion

Pro plan only

Lead with the topic

The opening paragraph doesn't mention the H1 or URL slug. Restate the topic in the first sentence so AI engines know the page answers it.
