hreflang values valid

SEOWeight 1.0% (This check's share of the SEO score)Score 100

What this is

For sites with several language versions, whether the tags that link those versions to each other (hreflang) use valid language codes.

Why it matters

When they're valid, Google shows each visitor the version in their language, such as the Traditional Chinese page to users in Taiwan. Invalid codes are simply ignored.

What counts as passing

Passes when every code is in standard form (e.g. zh-TW, en-US, or x-default); fails if any one is invalid; not scored when the page has no language-version tags.
