Broken link ratio
SEOWeight 2.5% (This check's share of the SEO score)Score 100
What this is
We take the first 20 distinct links in the page's HTML (often the menu; internal and external), check each with a quick request, and count how many are broken and don't open.
Why it matters
Broken links frustrate readers and make the site look poorly maintained to Google. Crawlers that hit dead ends also discover fewer pages.
What counts as passing
Fewer than 5% broken (connection failed or status 400 and above) passes; 5–15% is a partial pass; over 15% fails; not scored when there are no links to check.
